There was probably no collaboration, no communication, no check points, no agreed or detailed process that was needed. This content strategy was wrong from the start. Stopping using Lorem Ipsum didn’t help you and it won’t help you now. It’s like saying you’re a bad designer, use less bold text, don’t italicize every paragraph. True, but that’s not all you need to get things back on track.

You’ve got all the templates you need for a custom design, you’ve got all the approvals, you’ve built or are building a tested code base, you’ve chosen, licensed, or adapted a content management system:

The toppings you might choose for your TV dinner pizza when you forgot to go get the food, the color you might put on your face to impress the new boss, are all yours.

But what about your daily bread? The comp design, the templates, the wireframes—will your clients accept that you’re using unacceptable methods?

The references in our business will tell you clearly that Lorem Ipsum is a big, big no that should be abandoned forever.

But I won’t be so quick to say that there are redeeming factors to using Greek text, because its use merely signals a larger problem that needs to be addressed.

Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can display different texts and data using a single template.
When it comes to managing hundreds of articles, product pages for e-commerce stores, or user profiles on social networks, all with different sizes, formats, and rules for different elements, it can be difficult to keep up with the agreed-upon designs, which can have unintended consequences and look very different from what was expected.

This is a serious problem to solve, but using Greek text alone won’t fix it. Using test items with real content and data in your designs will help, but there’s no guarantee that every anomaly will be detected and fixed. Want to be sure? So a prototype or beta site with real content published from a real CMS is needed—but you won't get to that stage until you've gone through an initial design cycle.
